The bootleg Beatles
The Bootleg Beatles have been performing note-perfect renditions of the Fab Four’s outstanding repertoire since 1980. But who are the guys under the wigs?
Adam Hastings plays JOHN LENNON
Adam added his raspingly accurate Lennon-vocals to the BB’s line-up in 2011, replacing founder member, Neil Harrison. Adam hails from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and comes from a musical family, his father is a respected musical arranger and session bass player (who played on the famous Pearl & Dean cinema theme tune), and who taught a 9 year old Adam how to play the bass to A Hard Day’s Night. This was the start of a life-time love of The Fab Four.
Steve White plays PAUL McCARTNEY
Steve’s interest in music was first sparked by his father’s record collection, and ranges from 60’s classics, through country to rock and, of course, everything Beatles. Steve discovered his talent relatively late, first picking up a guitar aged 21.
He served his ‘apprenticeship’ playing in bands in clubs and pubs before joining a successful 60s tribute band, and supported many of the great names of that era: The Searchers, The Animals, The Troggs, Herman’s Hermits, Marmalade, The Merseybeats, to name a few.
Steve first played the role of Paul McCartney in a Beatle tribute band in 2006. He is naturally right-handed, but has mastered the left-handed bass specifically for the role.
Stephen Hill plays GEORGE HARRISON
Stephen Hill is the ‘new’ George Harrison in the Bootleg Beatles taking over from founder member Andre Barreau in July 2014.
‘I’ve been a Bootleg Beatle fan since I was ten years old, when my dad took me to see the band in my home town of Wolverhampton, so to actually become a full time member is a real thrill for me. I’ve been playing George in Beatles covers bands for over ten years so I’ve lived and breathed him. I grew up listening to the Beatles and started playing lead guitar at the age of eleven. ‘
Stephen spent two years in the West End Show ‘Let It Be’ before joining the Bootleg Beatles.
Gordon Elsmore plays RINGO STARR
Gordon has been playing in Beatles bands for nearly 20 years. That’s most of the time that he’s been playing the drums and its taken him all over the world. His first Beatles band was the Paperback Beatles in 1997 and more recently was part of the original cast of Let it Be. “I never get bored of playing the Beatles songs. The songs are amazing, of course, but the challenge is to discover exactly how they made that incredible sound. Its not as easy as you think and massively rewarding when you discover something you’ve never heard before.” Despite being in three signed bands and even appearing on Top of the Pops a few times it was always Beatles bands that kept Gordon busy! “I’ve played with all the other Bootlegs in different bands at diffferent times and its great to see us all in one place!”
